| History | We started as hobbyist photographers and videographers while working regular day jobs. Vu was an International Supervisor for Oakley and I was a Network Administrator for Credit Union of Southern California. We both quit our jobs once we build up enough business that we could survive off of our photo and video work. In the last two years we have spent a lot of time and effort building our brand up and getting our name out there to as many people know about our work as possible. We also have always loved teaching everyone that wants to how to do what we do. |
| Biggest project | I’ll actually mention three… We shot a series of commercials (produced by Smashface Productions) for a clothing company called JINX. The fist one we shot was actually the first US TV commercial shot entirely on the 5D mark II. You can find the commercials here: http://smashface.com/projects/jinx/ The second project (also produced by Smashface Productions) was shooting interviews at SXSW for PEPSI CO. We shot dual 5D mark II’s with audio on an H4n for 34 interviews that were all edited and delivered same day over 3 days. The last one was shooting at the Streamy Awards. It was a very nice awards show and were shooting celebrities right after they won! It was an amazing event and we ended up with amazing photos. One very different thing we did was shoot the portraits of the winners with a Canon 7D, while shooting the portraits we also shot short video clips (see the video here: http://thebuibrothers.com/streamys/ ) |
| Future Projects | Yes!!! We just got booked to shoot a sci-fi action web series. More details will be released soon. |
| Shooting Style | We are most known for our behind the scenes videos… people seem to really like them. Our actual end products that we love to work on are promotional photos and videos though. |
| Teaching | We have been teaching since we have started being pros. In the beginning we would have free workshops at our house and invite people over that wanted to learn about how to get video online. We did that for about a year and how give workshops all over the world! Our next big one is in the UK and we will be teaching about shooting with DSLRs, other speakers include Rodney Charters, Philip Bloom and Drew Gardner. We also have photo lighting workshops about once a month. Do you currently have seminars/schools/classes/dvds?
